Join us for this after-hours exclusive viewing of M.K. Čiurlionis: Between Worlds. This event will feature the exhibition's curator Dr Kathleen Soriano and contemporary Lithuanian artist Lina Lapelytè.
Listen to an in conversation talk with artist Lina Lapelytè, Golden Lion winner at the 2019 Venice Biennale, which will explore her career and practice focusing on the mingling of music and art that is prevalent in the work of both Lina Lapelytė and Čiurlionis.
Through music, installations, and the orchestration of collective performances, Lina Lapelytè is interested in power structures, culture, and contemporary ways of being. By overturning the dominant codes of the Western musical tradition, her works invite us to reconsider certain social constructions and thus rethink the place of the individual in the community. Her ballads address issues of ecology, gender, vulnerability, invisibility, and otherness.
This event will start with a drink's reception at 6:30pm. A complimentary drink and entry to the exhibition is included in the price of your ticket.
